This May, we celebrate Military Appreciation Month, honoring current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces within the Young’s family. We’re proud to spotlight three veterans who have joined Young’s Market Company within the past year. Here’s what some of them have to say about their experiences:

Jared Flower, Sales Rep/Merchandiser, explains how the work environment at Young’s has helped him settle into a new lifestyle. “The pillars on which Young’s Market Company was built embodies many of the Air Force’s core values. The overall goals are the same – each wants their employees to take pride in what they do, work hard, and be responsible and respectful. This helped make the transition from military to civilian much easier for me.”

Christopher Lawrence was stationed in Alaska for four years through the Army and was pushed to his limits through his training. Now, Chris is a Maintenance Mechanic here at Young’s, where he is constantly learning. “Young’s feels like home to me – the work environment is all family-based, and I feel well-supported by the leadership, who are always willing to teach me new skills. I also appreciate the benefits available to me as a Young’s employee, which allow me to sustain a healthy work-life balance.”

Jeffery Rarick served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a combat engineer, and is currently a Specialty Retail Manager here at Young’s. Although Jeffery has only been with us for a few months, he quickly became part of the Northern California sales team family. “There have surely been some hurdles, but my manager and the rest of the sales team have always been there to guide me in the right direction, even when they were busy with their own duties and tasks,” said Jeffery.
