This month, Tito’s Vodka celebrates 20 years as America’s original craft vodka.
About America’s Original Craft Vodka
Tito’s Vodka is a slow, six-times distilled personal recipe developed by employing methods similar to those applied to fine single malt scotches. Tito’s Vodka is also gluten-free and made from yellow corn, resulting in a mildly sweet aftertaste.
The Man Behind Tito’s Vodka: Tito Beveridge
Since 1997, Bert “Bertito” Beveridge has been distilling Tito’s Vodka at the first legal distillery in Texas. Beveridge earned degrees in geology and geophysics, and ended up in the oil and gas business after college. After working in Venezuela and Colombia, Beveridge came back to Texas to start a drilling company in Houston, but eventually decided to move back to Austin. He found himself in the mortgage business, when he started to make flavored vodka for his friends as Christmas presents. He eventually left his office job to pursue his passion for Vodka. It took the company more than eight years to turn a profit, but today Tito’s is one of the top vodka brands on the market.
