Young’s Market Company announced today that effective Monday, March 3, Richard Gillis will start in the newly created position of President of Young’s Market Company’s Distribution Network. Mr. Gillis will be based out of the Tustin, California headquarters and have responsibility for overseeing all aspects of the sales and operations of the Young’s Market Company distribution network in California, Hawaii, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Utah, Montana and Wyoming. Each of Young’s state Executive Vice President/General Managers will report to Mr. Gillis, who will in turn report directly to Chris Underwood, Chief Executive Officer of Young’s Market Company.

Mr. Gillis is a 20 year veteran of the sales and distribution divisions of some of the U.S.’s most well-known consumer packaged goods organizations.

In 1993, Mr. Gillis joined Coca Cola Enterprises, Inc. as Area Manager of Coca Cola Enterprises Northern California Division. During his 15 year career with Coca Cola Enterprises, Mr. Gillis served in a variety of increasingly important roles, culminating in his appointment as Vice President and General Manager of Coca Cola Enterprises Southwest business Unit headquartered in Dallas, Texas. In that role Mr. Gillis was responsible for the strategic direction of the daily operations of 12 production facilities, 47 sales/distribution locations, and 8,000 employees with revenues in excess of $2 Billion.

In 2009, Mr. Gillis was appointed Group Vice President of Dean Foods Company, Inc. where he oversaw the sales and operations of Dean Foods’ Southwest Group, consisting of 17 production facilities, 109 sales/distribution centers and annual revenues in excess of $2.2 Billion.

In 2012 Mr. Gillis was appointed Senior Vice President of Lactalis America Group, Inc. where he led the Company’s sales and trade marketing functions.

In announcing Mr. Gillis’ appointment, Chris Underwood, CEO of Young’s said: “Rick has spent his entire career in the consumer goods industry and he is a proven sales and operations professional.
