Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year with one of Europe’s oldest distilled beverages – Irish Whiskey. Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, about 1,000 distilleries opened and closed across Ireland, leaving about 15 Irish Whiskey distilleries today. On March 17, try these Irish Whiskey-based cocktails inspired by Arizona Craft Spirit Specialist Jason Girard.
“The Irish Garden”
.75 oz. Bushmills Red Bush Irish Whiskey
.75 oz Cointreau
.5 oz. Giffard Blue Curaçao
.5 oz Boomsma Cloosterbitters
.75 oz. Lemon Juice
.5 oz. Simple Syrup
Shake with ice and strain in a collins glass over ice.

1 oz. Bushmills Black Bush Irish Whiskey
1 oz. Cointreau
Barspoon Bols Blue Curaçao
Barspoon Lemon Juice
1/2 rim sugar
Shake with ice and strain in to a sugar-rimmed cocktail glass over ice. Enjoy and celebrate safely!

Jason Girard, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, has more than 20 years of experience in the service and beverage industry. In 2009, Jason founded the Phoenix chapter of the United States Bartenders’ Guild and served as Chairperson until 2012.
